After a long year of the pandemic, Chicago music lovers have been expecting the official announcement of Lollapalooza 2021. Because this event was one of the largest and most popular music festivals to ever hit Chicago, festival-goers from across the nation have been anxious to step onto the grounds of Grant Park again.

Although the 2020 fest got canceled due to COVID-19, Lollapalooza 2021 has been approved for July 29-Aug. 1. Heeding safety protocols measured in accordance with CDC guidelines, Chicago’s multiday music festival seems to be taking all the right steps to ensure the safest possible environment for fans patiently waiting for the festival gates to open.

The event is quickly approaching, and coordinators and event organizers have announced the requirements to attend Lollapalooza Chicago 2021. In accordance with the City of Chicago, full COVID-19 vaccination(s) or negative COVID-19 results received 24-hours prior will be required to attend. With all the right steps being taken and vaccines being administered across the nation, we’re excited to welcome the 30th anniversary of the festival with Lollapalooza 2021 in Chicago, Illinois.

Lollapalooza brings in an average of more than 100,000 attendees every year, and the annual four-day event has received the green light to return to Grant Park at full capacity this year. This well-known festival dates back to the early 90s, when Perry Farrell, frontman of Jane’s Addiction, conceived of the first Lollapalooza as a farewell tour for his band. The lineup then consisted of bands like Nine Inch Nails, Henry Rollins and Living Colour. The following years attracted even more mainstream artists like Lupe Fiasco and bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers.

After 30 years in Chicago’s Grant Park, Lollapalooza has reached their 30th annual celebration this year, and since this year’s festival was rescheduled due to the pandemic, anticipation for the Lollapalooza 2021 lineup is high.

Famous icons like Foo Fighters, Journey and Post Malone have taken the pedestal of this year’s headliners, and general admission passes stand at a minimum of US$350. Although followers were able to livestream Lollapalooza after its cancellation in 2020, the experience of a live performance just doesn’t quite compare. Be ready, Lollapalooza 2021 in Chicago is right around the corner.

Back in 2011, Lollapalooza expanded to Santiago, Chile and became one of the largest festivals to make its mark in Latin America. Located in Chile at Parque O’Higgins Park was the first ever Lollapalooza hosted outside of the United States.

Renowned artists like Cypress Hill, Metallica and Kanye West took over Chile’s second-largest park as thousands of Chileans made their way into their first ever Lollapalooza. What was supposed to be set for early this year was postponed due to COVID-19; the announced dates for Lollapalooza Chile are tentatively set for Nov. 26-28 later this year.

As a result of Lollapalooza Chile producing such a great following and popularity in South America, the curators decided to throw a second sister festival in Brazil back in 2012. With years of unforgettable experiences following this event in Sao Paulo, this year would’ve been their 9th edition to Lollapalooza Brazil.

While some of the biggest names in music like Foo Fighters or Foster the People performed over the years, festival promoters also intended to include Brazilian acts to really amp the cultural influences of Latin America. The festival has officially been postponed for March 25-27, 2022.

Lollapalooza Berlin was one of the first European expansions kicked off in 2015. As the internationally acclaimed music festival made its name known around Berlin, it brought greater attention by music-lovers all across Europe. Soon the festival attracted hundreds of thousands of attendees for two days of vibrant fashion, art and a stacked lineup of some of the best musicians and artists of the time.

Because electronic dance music (EDM) culture seems to be rooted in Europe, heavy hitting DJs in the scene like Destructo, Hardwell and Major Lazer followed in later lineups. Taking over the German capital’s Tempelhof airport is one of the most premier music festivals that has grown to more than 70,000 attendees. Unfortunately, due to the latest restrictions, organizers have decided to make arrangements for a stronger and even louder return to Lollapalooza Berlin in 2022.
