Holly Brown

You might expect such a restaurant in the Central district to be expensive, but their prices are generally affordable. Their famous gelato comes in 12 flavors, ranging from our all time favorite Tiramisu to their unique Blue Vanilla. Their cakes are also of a generous size to make sure your sweet tooth is satisfied.

Vietnam Fast Food
Hidden in a small, easy-to-miss lane in Central, Vietnam Fast Food is an unpretentious restaurant that will hit the spot if you are on a tight budget or in a hurry. It is rare to find a restaurant with such fairly priced food in Central, which is a rather expensive district. In fact, it’s kind of an insider-secret – many of those who work in Central buy take-away from this fast food shop. Their lunch sets cost just a little more than HK$50. For even more of a deal, the afternoon tea sets are at a lower price at the same portions. Although many may shy away from the concept of eating chicken feet (and their texture), we found the shop’s chicken feet salad to be excellent. If you are feeling courageous enough to have a go at something a little different, this is the place to give them a try.

Ivan the Kozak
When speaking of the best restaurants in Central, Ivan the Kozak must not go unmentioned. This restaurant serves authentic Eastern European cuisine, which can be uncommon to find in Hong Kong. Beautiful and exotic, Ivan the Kozak is stylishly decorated with Russian and Ukrainian elements.
There are so many dishes on the menu to captivate your attention. Hong Kongers are fond of borscht, in fact a Hong Kong-style borscht is served in many restaurants in the area. However, not many people are aware that borscht actually comes from Ukraine, and is a famous dish in Russia and Slavic countries as well. If you are a fan of borscht, you must try this quintessential soup prepared authentically at Ivan the Kozak. Aside from borscht, the baked rabbit in sour cream sauce is also a unique dish that you won’t find elsewhere. Lunch sets are priced around HK$150, but will make you feel like you’ve been transported to Eastern Europe.
