Canned cocktails seem to be more and more popular these days. As waves of canned cocktail connoisseurs and seltzer junkies continue to impact the market demand, what’s followed has been an even wider variety of canned alcoholic drinks to add to your already-filled fridge at home.

Just because the pandemic may keep you from visiting your local bartenders doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t enjoy quality (hopefully!) alcoholic beverages – instead from the leisure of your home. With everything from high-end distilled spirits to crafted canned cocktails on the market, the endless flow of new, good alcohol brands to add to your drinking bucket list is enough to keep you busy while looking for your new favorite drink. So if you’re stocking up your at-home bar or just want some quick quality cocktails in a can, be on the lookout for these canned alcoholic drinks for 2021.

Dogfish Head Canned Cocktails

Although Dogfish Head has been crafting beer since the mid 90s, the brewery has also been distilling spirits since 2017. Head founder Sam Calagione has taken these new canned cocktails to new heights and flavors since their first release. With the new brand of canned cocktails thoughtfully crafted through their distinct and one-of-a-kind distilling process, expect to sip on a perfect balance of liquor and cocktail flavors you wouldn’t normally enjoy in a can.

Their forward-flavor collection features a Strawberry & Honeyberry Vodka Lemonade, Cherry Bergamot Whiskey Sour and a Blueberry Shrub Vodka Soda, each containing 7.0% ABV. Each ready-to-drink can has it’s own character. While the vodka soda is inspired by the James Beard-Award nominated bar program, the vodka lemonade is rooted from Sam’s visit to a honey berry farm in coastal Maine.

White Claw Surge

Immensely popular among lightly flavored seltzer waters, White Claw is one of the bestselling hard seltzers on the market since it came out in 2016. Because the light flavored beer alternative built up quite a reputation (considering the nationwide outage in 2019), the Mark Anthony Group (creators of White Claw) decided to develop a new and heavier spiked seltzer. White Claw Surge is one of their newest alcoholic drinks in a can that is comparably heavier than the original Claw that everyone knows and loves.

The Surge is sold in 16-ounce cans with 8% ABV compared to the original that comes in 12-ounce cans and contains 5% ABV. This increase in not only ounces but also in alcohol content should be a big hit with White Claw fans. Despite having just two flavors to choose from, the summer blood orange and cranberry, expect the taste to be boozier, but similar to the original.

The Modern Mimosa

The team at Mayne & Co was inspired by a family dinner, and what soon followed in December 2020 was a classic duo that everyone knows and loves – sparkling wine and orange juice. The new Modern Mimosa would take this classic duo and infuse it with a modern twist, redefining the average mimosa and creating a portable and refreshing beverage you can savor anywhere.

What started off as an idea discussed over dinner has now become a canned alcoholic drink that co-founders Scott and Allie Griswold have carefully crafted. The white wine infused in the mimosa comes from a collection of small vineyards in Italy that are committed to sustainable farming, while the organic orange juice is sourced fresh from California.

Sustainability is a huge part of this project as each can is made with recycled aluminum and creatively designed by Lana Elanor, an independent artist that has focused more on the art aspect of the design rather than consumer packaging. Containing a solid 10% ABV, the 250mL can is equivalent to 1.5 glasses with only 120 calories per serving.

Cutwater White Russian

A mixture of their award-winning Vodka and a smooth coffee cream liqueur, Cutwater Spirits has introduced a White Russian, their newest addition to their already stacked list of canned cocktails. This will be Cutwater’s 19th canned cocktail to hit the market, and with the well-known brand already having a reputation for “America’s Most Awarded Canned Cocktails,” the flavors behind their latest variety of ready-to-drink cocktails should hold its own.

With founder and master distiller Yuseff Cherney having 20 years of beer crafting experience behind him, his newest mixed drink is expected to deliver the same bold flavors you’d see in any other. The mixed drink has a harmonious blend of light roasted coffee and vanilla ice cream with a high percentage of 14% ABV. If you’re looking for a dessert in a can that packs a punch, Cutwater Spirits got just the drink.

Michelob Ultra Organic Seltzer

With a lighter take on alcohol, hard seltzers have been making a huge impact on canned drinks in 2021. The team at Michelob Ultra has joined in by releasing their new Michelob Ultra Organic Seltzer, and the light lager delivers a clean and refreshing flavor from their signature collection.

Because Michelob already has a reputation for being “Ultra” light when it comes down to calories, their new USDA-Organic certified product should be a huge hit for those looking for a beverage with less calories, carbs and a lighter taste overall. The drink only carries 80 calories per can, 4% of alcohol and three fruit-infused flavors including citrus, mixed berry and mango apricot.

Mike’s Hard Lemonade Seltzer

Hard lemonade fans have been addicted to the idea of lemonades and liquor since the early 2000s. Now that seltzers have made such a reputable name for themselves, experts at Mike’s Hard Lemonade decided to adopt characteristics of the craze into their already well-known drink. The reconstructed hard lemonade is said to still carry the same full flavor taste of their lemonade, while also mixing the common attributes of hard seltzer.

Mike’s Hard Lemonade Seltzer comes in a 12-can variety pack of four different flavors: lemonade, strawberry, pineapple and mango. Because the team uses a special cold pressed method, more lemon flavor is extracted into their drinks, making their beverages some of the best tasting hard lemonades on the market. The infusion of their authentic lemonade stacked with their new seltzer makes one canned cocktail with just 100 calories and only 1g of sugar.
