Women of Hong Kong (WOHK) is back at it with its 11th Business Blitz event, providing its niche entrepreneurial female crowd the opportunity to meet, network and connect – both personally and professionally.
The distinctive community was founded by Sarah Vee, a Filipina-Hong Konger determined to create a safe space for women. "When women join the community," explains Vee, "they naturally support another member because they carry the knowledge or connection that someone needs. What they don't realise is that one day, a member on the platform will end up helping them too."
Today, the community is over 6,000 strong, filled with women bounded by ambition, mutual support, and respect. A quick peek into the group; and individually, every member carries a wealth of individual experience and drive.
Take the founder of CHOMP, Carla Martinesi, for example. Starting her career on the creative side of the corporate world yet always having a shining green heart, she launched CHOMP over a year ago, an app to fight the food wastage problem in Hong Kong. For her, WOHK has been instrumental in driving aspects of her company's growth. "I met a lot of people through the network who helped me with my growing startup. Anything from PR to even basic things that I didn’t understand like handling my MPF."
Take another look. You'll find Lucie Petit, a French model who has graced brand visuals of Armani, Victoria's Secret and Calvin Klein. Today, she runs Hong Kong Model Camp (HKMC), a business dedicated to boosting women's confidence through model training. “Women of Hong Kong has helped create opportunities for us to connect and collaborate with other women on a business and personal level.”
