Celebrating women – Get to know Women of Hong Kong’s Lorena Chan

It's our pleasure to introduce Lorena Chan, an incredibly talented illustrator who is making waves in the children's book industry.

Chan's incredible talent was discovered by Laurence Thiel, the founder and director of Ô Fil de Lau, a brand that creates handmade soft toys and storybooks for children. Thiel was on the hunt for an illustrator for their first storybook and when he stumbled upon Chan's work, he was blown away by her creativity and dedication to her craft.

"Lorena made an amazing work, the result is far beyond my expectations! Thanks to her, we have now our first book available and can't wait to start the next one. Thanks WOHK for making this happen!" explains Thiel.

Even though Chan was a designer with no prior experience in illustrating books, her enthusiasm for the project and alignment with Ô Fil de Lau's values led to a successful collaboration with the brand. Thanks to Chan's hard work and talent, Ô Fil de Lau's first storybook is now available, and they are eager to start working on the next one. Not only that, but Chan has also demonstrated a deep commitment to promoting cultural awareness and creating job opportunities for mothers.
