Embark on a journey of empowerment with TMS x WOHK's latest editorial campaign, shining a spotlight on extraordinary women who are making positive changes within our communities by uplifting their peers. Join us as we uncover the story of Gianne Chan and Bernice Li.

“Women of Hong Kong is a vibrant and diverse community that is very much community-driven. Our aim is to promote gender equality and empower women in Hong Kong,” explains Sarah Vee, the founder of Women of Hong Kong (WOHK) to TMS. “We're a community of women from all walks of life, united by our shared passion for supporting and uplifting one another. Our goal is to create a supportive and inclusive space for women in Hong Kong to connect and unlock opportunities.”

If WOHK is new to you, it's time to discover this extraordinary group. WOHK is a testament to the profound sense of connection and community among women in this thriving metropolis. It strives to create a nurturing and inclusive space, helping women in Hong Kong to forge meaningful connections and unlock a world of possibilities. WOHK transcends the boundaries of a conventional community; it is a catalyst for empowerment.

Meet Gianne Chan, the co-owner of the creative agency Lexemedia, who played a critical role in the success of Calmed & Co. Her support, guidance and extensive network have been instrumental in the growth of both businesses. Bernice Li, who nominated Chan for this feature, credits her for introducing her to a community of women through WOHK. Together, they have partnered in various ventures, including starting a women’s community.

"There's too much WOHK and Sarah have done for me, my businesses, mental health, support system – oh, you name it," says Li.

As a feminist, brand and creative director and self-healer, Li's work focuses on normalizing and humanizing conversations that women need to have about gender stereotypes, sexuality, body image and traditional relationship frameworks. Chan’s support has helped Li manifest everything she's dreamed of, and both are committed to inspiring other women to show up authentically and unapologetically.

Sole Soul Club, founded by Li and Chan, is not just a community; it's a sanctuary for growth-oriented women in Hong Kong. In a world where the pandemic has exacerbated feelings of isolation, Sole Soul Club stands as a beacon of light, dispelling the illusion of loneliness. By fostering genuine connections through meet-ups, meaningful conversations and shared vulnerability, the club has become a secure space where members experience a profound sense of belonging, akin to finding a home. At Sole Soul Club, knowledge is not just power; it's a shared journey. The monthly Book Club events bring growth-oriented individuals together, creating a safe haven for open dialogues on mental health, empowerment and personal development.

Through the exploration of literature, members embark on a collective quest for wisdom and self-discovery, turning the pages not just to read but to nourish their minds. Minimal talk and gossip have no place at Sole Soul Club. Instead, members engage in real conversations that matter through the club's trending podcast, "There You Glow." Hosted by Li and Chan, this podcast delves into the power of vulnerability and the art of embracing authenticity. Sharing valuable insights and personal stories on healing and growth, the podcast is a guiding light, empowering women to embrace their uniqueness with courage and compassion. Apart from the podcast and book club, Sole Soul Club also hosts wellness retreats, where Li and Chan share their valuable insights and stories on healing and growth, empowering all women to embrace their own uniqueness and authenticity. It's focused on the practice of self-reflection and compassion, recentering oneself to find the genuine sweet spot in the present moment. Sole Soul Club is hosting various kinds of retreats in different places like Bali.

We are excited to share Chan’s story and those of other remarkable women over the next few weeks as we continue highlighting the impact of female empowerment. Stay tuned for more captivating narratives of women from WOHK who are making a difference, one community at a time.
