“My advice for women facing obstacles or discrimination while pursuing their goals and dreams is to first focus on themselves,” says Sarah Vee, the founder of Women of Hong Kong (WOHK) to TMS. “This means working on self-awareness and self-love. It's hard work, but it's necessary to become a better person for yourself.”

If you haven't yet heard of WOHK, it's time to discover this extraordinary group. It's a celebration of the deep connections and vibrant community among women in this bustling city. By providing opportunities for connection and personal growth, WOHK paves the way for women in Hong Kong to flourish.

Welcome to TMS x WOHK’s latest editorial campaign featuring exceptional women who are positively impacting our communities through uplifting others within the group. This week, we're thrilled to introduce Lisa Tarquini.

Tarquini is a woman who embodies the spirit of positivity, resilience and determination. She's faced (and overcome) cancer twice and experienced menopause at an early age. Yet, instead of letting these challenges defeat her, she's made it her mission to empower others, particularly women, through her work on menopause awareness. Tarquini's efforts have struck a chord with many, including her colleague and friend, Lorena Chan, who co-founded Arcana Studio.

Chan was drawn to Tarquini's request for help in writing a book on menopause. She describes Tarquini as a remarkable person whose passion and knowledge about the topic have enriched her own understanding. Tarquini's work has been a source of inspiration for Chan and many other women who have benefited from her advocacy for taking charge of one's health and well-being.

"She helped me by letting me into her world. Not only was she keen to work with me even though I don't really have the knowledge of menopause, but through her teachings, I now have such a better understanding of how menopause will impact me," explains Chan.

In a world where menopause is often treated as taboo, Tarquini's advocacy is a much-needed ray of light. She shares her own experiences and knowledge to demystify menopause, helping women feel more confident and informed about the changes their bodies will go through.

Tarquini's work is an important step towards breaking down the barriers surrounding menopause and empowering women to take control of their health. Stay tuned for more captivating narratives of women from WOHK who are making a difference, one community at a time.
