Discover the rich culinary tapestry of the Mediterranean and Middle East at ÓNA, the latest addition to Hong Kong's Discovery Bay Plaza's dining scene. Named after the Catalan word for "wave," ÓNA pays homage to the varied coastal cuisines that have left an indelible mark on ancient empires such as the Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans and Ottomans.
ÓNA's setting includes an outdoor deck offering a tropical panorama framed by palm trees along the shores, creating the perfect backdrop to its seafood-focused star dishes. The unpretentious Mediterranean-style decor cultivates a comfortable and amiable setting, and at night, it’s the perfect getaway date with your partner or friends.
ÓNA's interior exudes warmth with textured fabrics and vibrant tile accents, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Neutral tones reminiscent of a sunset, along with ripple-shaped stones evoking seaside waves, enhance the cozy feel.
The inspiration of the restaurant doesn't limit itself to a single country; instead, it offers a menu that encompasses a variety of specialties from the region. The culinary experience introduces less mainstream favorites from lesser-known areas, emphasizing the authenticity of each dish.
Central to ÓNA's offerings is the distinctive Josper charcoal oven, skillfully preparing char-grilled dishes like kebab, seabass and calamari. Renowned Moroccan chef El Mehdi Zenasni, an experienced figure in Hong Kong's Mediterranean and Middle Eastern culinary scene, presents cherished dishes from his homeland, including flavorful beef tagine, couscous, and slow-cooked lamb infused with lemon yogurt and Arabic spices.
The menu features a focus on seafood, with standout options such as Baharat Garlic Butter Prawn, Prawn Saganaki and Sumac Baby Squid. In addition to these, a variety of salads, vegetarian choices, Lebanese mezze dips and Turkish lamb and falafel shwarma wraps contribute to the diverse selection of flavors.
Dessert specialties add a sweet finale to the Mediterranean feast, featuring delights like Turkey's baklava pastries, chilled Greek rice pudding and Arab qatayef pancakes stuffed with cheese and syrup.
