The New Normal (TNN) Charity is a mental health charity in Hong Kong, dedicating their support to individuals through life's trials and tribulations. By offering free peer support groups, community activities and training, TNN aims to make mental health resources accessible across the city and beyond.
Now, the organization is gearing up for a special mission at the Shanghai Commercial Pok Oi Cycle For Millions event on March 17, setting out to pedal as many as 13 kilometers to raise funds and awareness around mental health.
Hong Kong grapples with widespread mental health issues, as 61% of the population reportedly faces mental health challenges. Simultaneously, one in five individuals is affected by poverty, according to Bloomberg. The intersection of these challenges underscores the critical importance of accessible mental health resources for those in need.
TNN's peer support groups provide a secure environment for open discussion in both Cantonese and English. Led by experienced hosts with firsthand knowledge on the session's subject matter, these sessions aim to create a space where individuals feel comfortable sharing their experiences. "We feel that the best form of therapy is to talk to others with similar life experiences," writes the charity's website.
On March 17, TNN aims to raise HK$70,000 during the Pok Oi Cycle For Millions 2024. Support their cause by making a donation, volunteering on-site, or simply spreading the word.
