Quarry Bay in Hong Kong is surrounded by towering skyscrapers and bustling streets, but there's plenty to do in this eastern district outside of the office. Beyond the rush of people headed to and from work, there are lots of spots to snap IG-worthy photos, enjoy a coffee break or chill with friends, whether you're looking to unwind with a post-work happy hour drink or grab a bite to eat. So, here's your local guide to Quarry Bay, from the iconic Monster Building to Tong Chong Street Market.

Monster Building

The Monster Building, also called the Yik Cheong Building, got its nickname for its huge and maze-like structure. Built in the 1960s, it's made up of five tall apartment blocks connected together that have now become iconic in Hong Kong's urban imagery. You might even recognize it from movies like "Ghost in the Shell" and "Transformers: Age of Extinction." It's a favorite spot for photos among shutterbugs and tourists and one of the most Instagrammed places in the city. Just head out of Exit A and enjoy a leisurely five-minute stroll down King’s Road to get a closer look at these towering buildings.
