Veda is launching Veda Café and Bar, offering a fresh vegetarian menu inspired by modern Indian homes. Led by Avni Jhunjhnuwala, the revamped menu focuses on nutritious, flavorful dishes.

Established in 2002 by Sarika Jhunjhnuwala and reopened in 2018, Veda is all about heritage and culinary excellence. The name "Veda," meaning "knowledge" in Sanskrit, symbolizes a heritage passed from mother to daughter. Avni, drawing from her experience at the Institute of Culinary Education in New York, highlights salads, dosas and protein-rich mains on the new menu.

Salad options include the Puffed Rice Salad, Turmeric and Chickpea Caesar and Roasted Cauliflower and Brussels Sprouts. Signature dosas range from Classic Potato Masala to Pesto Paneer. Main courses feature Yellow Tadka Dhal, Roasted Aloo Gobi and Grilled Paneer. Of course, there are also snack options, including Paneer Tempura, Pani Pur and Chilli Cheese Toast. Sweets fans will love the 70% Valrhona Chocolate Mousse with almond brittle, berries, EVOO and Maldon salt.

“My mother opened Veda in 2002, it was Hong Kong’s first fine dining Indian restaurant. The restaurant gained many accolades and life-long fans, who still speak fondly about the original Veda," Avni shares. "It was closed in 2008 and then reopened in 2018 at the Ovolo Hotel on Arbuthnot Road, just a few doors down from the original; with new branding, menu and concept. Our current restaurant manager, Bhakti, has been with us for over 20 years, she joined as a server in 2002 and is now the manager (and matriarch) of Veda.”
