Celebrating half a century of Valley RFC with a race for a cause

On September 7, teams will race at Happy Valley to raise HK$500,000 for youth mental health programs in Hong Kong.

Valley RFC is marking its 50th anniversary with the Half Century Challenge, an event aimed at raising HK$500,000 to fund mental health and fitness programs for youth in Hong Kong. On September 7, teams will race around the 1,200-meter Happy Valley Running Track, aiming to complete as many laps as possible in one hour. The funds raised will support 60 programs benefiting over 1,200 young people.

The event, running from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., includes more than just the race. Valley Fest, offers dodge ball, relays and the Beer King Challenge, making it a day of community spirit and fun for all ages.

“This event is a reflection of Valley RFC’s 50 years of dedication to community building through sport,” explained Paddy Shepherd, Chairman of the Valley Foundation. “It’s not just about celebrating our history and future, but also about coming together for a greater purpose – supporting the youth of Hong Kong.”

Participants can form teams of five to ten, select time slots and raise funds to support the Valley Foundation's mission. Whether running or spectating, everyone’s involvement will contribute to a cause that’s close to the club’s heart.
