Kenneth Tsang, an 87-year-old veteran star known for his roles in Cantonese and Hollywood movies, was found dead in his quarantine hotel room on Wednesday. He had just arrived in Hong Kong from Singapore on Monday.

Health officials reportedly carried out regular checks, during which they knocked on Tsang’s door. But he didn’t answer – a tell-tale sign for an emergency response. The hotel staff found him unconscious on the floor and called the police around noon. Sources said Tsang had three vaccination doses and tested negative for COVID on Tuesday. He did have high blood pressure, according to his daughter, Musette Tsang Mo-suet. His cause of death is still unknown.

Tsang was known for his roles in movies like “Die Another Day” and “Rush Hour 2.”

Key comments:

“I will quarantine if I must,” Kenneth Tsang told a Malaysian newspaper during his last interview, which ran a photo of the actor holding a piece of durian fruit.

“I’m deeply saddened by the news and will miss his laughter and his friendship,” Tsang’s manager, Andrew Ooi, said in a statement.

“I hope that he delivered great performances and stories to you all, and people will remember him as being young, handsome and excellent at acting,” Tsang’s daughter said. “He loved having fun and eating different foods. He really enjoyed his life. I hope people will remember this side of him.”

Kenneth Tsang is one of the greatest actors for Chinese audience. I grew up watching his TV dramas😔 R.I.P.🙏🏻 https://t.co/O7E3NsnEt0
