The only thing more miserable than a cold and gloomy winter day is a cold and gloomy winter night. So, we don’t blame you for staying indoors for most of your night, as it’s bound to be the comfort you need to warm up your winter. But spending every night indoors will undoubtedly become mundane and uninteresting, so you’re going to need new ways to keep yourself entertained. We’ve rounded up some of the best ways to enjoy a winter night at home to give you something to do while you’re staying cozy indoors.

Read a book

Of course, first on our list is to grab a book. You can never go wrong with a good book – especially if it’s both entertaining and informative. Make yourself a cup of tea, and curl up in a comfortable position – we guarantee time will fly by quicker than you would imagine.

Run a hot bath or shower

Running a hot bath or shower is just another way to relieve that stress and cold from your body. The best way to start or even end your evening is by feeling the warmth of the water on your skin. Feel free to set the mood with some candles or music, and hopefully you’ll get the most out of it. Once you’re in, it will be very difficult to get yourself out.

Bake

Nothing screams winter season more than a freshly baked batch of cookies. The best thing about baking simple cookies is that you probably already have all the ingredients at home. With just some flour, sugar, baking powder, vanilla and butter, you can make delicious treats. You can even customize them to fit your liking with chocolate chips, sprinkles or nuts. These are the perfect midnight snacks that will warm you, inside and out.

Catch up with family and friends

During your down time (which is usually at night), getting in touch with your family and friends is a good activity to pass the time. Not only will you be reaching out to people who you maybe haven’t caught up with in a while, but it will also keep you company during those cold winter nights. Especially during this pandemic, a lot of us haven’t seen some people who are important in our lives. That’s why it’s especially important to facetime, call or even text these people close to us. Getting regular updates from family and friends is always heartwarming.

Play board games

If you’re not alone during these dull nights, (which first of all – lucky you!) playing a board game is a great way to bring out some laughter, cheers and some healthy competition. But overall, a classic board game keeps you entertained through interacting with the people around you, more than you would usually if you were on your phone or even reading a book. Whether you choose Monopoly, Cluedo, Life or anything else, you can never go wrong with this classic at-home entertainment. If board games aren’t your thing, there’s a ton of great video games available to keep everyone on their toes.

Watch a movie

If board games aren’t your thing, curl up for a movie instead. With the selection of movies available online, streaming from your own home has never been so easy. So, for your next trip to the grocery store, don’t forget to add popcorn to your cart. Snuggling on your couch with a bowl of popcorn and hot chocolate will surely be the perfect way to enjoy a winter night at home.
